In the limit case we'll spend all our money on healthcare, since that will be the need that remains after all others are satisfied. Unfortunately the US is a bit ahead of its time in this respect.

I'm not so sure about this. A lot of people in their 80s and 90s don't have very strong feelings about prolonging their lives -- or if they have strong feelings, it's in the form of a DNR. Certainly spending large amounts on health care is not an overwhelming need for them.

I can imagine a future where health care spending is *lower*, thanks to straightforward and effective treatment for "premature" medical issues along with an acceptance that bodies wearing out and shutting down in old age is just fine.
