I really enjoyed the one from Walter Isaacson. It was incredibly comprehensive. I think his Ben Franklin was one of the best biographies I ever read. Will try this one too. Sounds like Hoffman focused more on his work.

What are the other biographies you would recommend? Also, what according to you are traits of a good biography?

I am excited to read this. Einstein’s physics were so beautiful; his accomplishments are simply unparrelled. He is honestly a big reason they still all chase beauty

The two greatest moments in my academic career were when I learned band theory from Kittel and when Grifffiths used relativistic electrodynamics to show how electricity and magnetism were the same thing

have you read the one by Abraham Pais? He was also a physicist and Einstein's colleague at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. Really good as well!https://www.amazon.com/Subtle-Lord-Science-Albert-Einstein/dp/0192806726 …

There's another Pais biography volume, too -- a sort of sequel to "Subtle is the Lord." It's called "Einstein Lived Here," and it focuses on personal recollections and glimpses into the non-scientific side of Einstein's life. Also recommended: "Albert Einstein: The Human Side."
