I miss holding a crying baby. That's something that at one time I not only never imagined I'd think, but I couldn't imagine anyone thinking. It would have seemed almost ill-formed.

Yeah, I'm finally starting to understand that. I assumed it was some weird second-order selfish-gene thing (make sure your lifeboats make lifeboats) but I think the explanation is simpler than that.
