I miss holding a crying baby. That's something that at one time I not only never imagined I'd think, but I couldn't imagine anyone thinking. It would have seemed almost ill-formed.

I don't miss the crying. I miss the smell of a baby's head.

My kids look at me, smile and shake their heads when I see a little one & say “oh I miss that stage, I just want to smell his/her head” one has said don’t embarrass me getting caught sniffing baby heads. How would I explain that people?
