In some kinds of work, doing something faster than your peers is a sign of ability. But starting a startup at 16 doesn't mean you're 50% better at startups than Larry Page. It's more like stumbling into a room.

But if you start early, you can at least get your failures out of the way sooner.

Well, having watched @paulg talk about it over and over at his lectures at Y combinator, he must have his personal reasons for asking us to delay starting till we're old enough. Still can't figure it out. It just scares me sometimes and I want to ask him- "how about 23?"

It seems like it’s often fruitful to be in the zone between “stumbling into a room” and being overly prepared. It’s hard to find the right balance.

Starting a startup is just announcing your plan to do something. Until you release a product you can't really claim to have done anything yet.

When I started my startup at 20, I wasn’t even aware I had started a startup. How could something I had built for me and my friends even be a business? It was older people who pointed out that I had started a startup/stumbled into a room.
