Analog discovery in bookshops is a million times better than any digital search. Especially in used bookshops.

We should be able to trade them for digital copies with a modest fee.

I love opening a used book to find out that it was previously owned by a school library, and last checked out 10+ years before I was born. Not even Goodreads can make me feel as connected as knowing some stranger, 50 years ago, squinted at the same ink on the same yellow pages.

Another reason I prefer printed books over ebooks - a printed book is generally harder to get, and I feel more motivated to spend my time reading it. Also, having them on my bookshelf is sort of a trophy.

Love the discovery process in bookstores. Kindle Lao doesn’t beat the feel and smell of a book.

The magic of books is in the words, not the smell.

Do you think there are any benefits to reading in print compared to Kindle/iPad?

When you've finished a good book, are you the sort of person who wants to: a) give it to someone else to read, or b) keep it for reference, grow your library?
-
If it's good I'll keep it, but buy copies for other people.
