I like most of your ideas, but not this one. It's important that a startup have the ability to build its own product, and building the initial version is a valuable, indeed company-defining, exercise.

I would argue, it is a bit problematic to focus on the technical side so much. I have the feeling YC startups especially focus too much on product and too little in distribution / go to market.
