So, is this going to end up as the next E-gold? Any convenient, liquid, non-State asset makes both tax evasion and money laundering incredibly easy. It's an idea that gets shut down every time it starts becoming successful.

If you want to launder money on a grand scale, having a fiat banking license is the way to go. See HSBC. Too big to jail. E gold would be harder to launder money with.

Slightly different but also quite neat https://www.bullionstar.com/cashbullion No card (yet) but allows moving between crypto/gold/fiat. Counts as vault storage, so different regulatory framework. Also SG, which is very friendly to precious metals and crypto.
