Medieval history. A lot of people think of the medieval period as a dip between ancient and modern times. Actually instead of one curve with a dip, there are two curves, one that fell and another that rose. So medieval history is the origin of the world we live in.

Are there any books on the subject you can recommend? This is a a part of history I know least about.
Bartlett's Making of Europe, White's Medieval Technology and Social Change, Fletcher's Quest for El Cid to start with.
