    The more formatting your email has, the less I want to read it. A short, plain text email reads as a message to me. If you use bulleted lists and different typefaces, it looks like spam.

        I observed that people usually want to convey more than one message in a single email, and usually bullet points are the best way to express the messages in a concise way. Totally agree on other kinds of formatting though!

        This is a poor heuristic. Using basic readability tools is a sign of good and careful writing. It shows the author took the time to make things easier for you. Overusing formatting to get attention is an antipattern, but that doesn't mean that bullet points are bad.
