Ultimately you can't do everything by the numbers. This decision was one of that pivotal kind where a CEO with a Jobs level of vision would have said "I know the numbers say do it, but that's not where we're heading."

Interesting phenomena here is continuous meta discussions about Twitter on this social network. Many people really reflect on twitter about the platform itself. What do you think it says about Twitter and the psychology behind such discussions?

I was wondering why Comment/Like on Twitter (and LinkedIn) still double up as Retweet/Share but no longer so on Facebook. Makes me wonder if Twitter really knows what drives engagement.

If I wanted more exposure for my tweet, only options are 1) a . in front of @ or 2) quote-tweeting, right? Quote tweeting can certainly be used in a snarky way but seems useful in general as a way of providing context and achieving reach - what is alternative?

How much of this is done by bots do we think? Perhaps more importantly.. what is the ratio of this negative retweet when someone is using an anonymous twitter handle vs their real name...2:1? 10:1? 50:1?

Have you seen how
@visakanv does threads? I think it’d take a lot away from Twitter if you couldn’t link threads the way he does, where the QTs allow for webs of thought. But it is also a tool for bullying. - Show replies

Different people have staggeringly different experiences with this - in my part of the twitter-verse, kind and friendly nerds use QTs to introduce each other to interesting thoughts from other friends and it’s a net plushttps://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1133066996797468672?s=21 …

Perhaps,
@paulg, the avg power user’s experience with QT is vastly positive/different from someone high-profile. My use cases: 1/ Tweetstorms w/ threading a-la@visakanv &@david_perell 2/ Sometimes I don’t want to join a discussion, but want to state my view Love QT for both -
Further, look at this brilliant usage of the feature by
@antoniogm himself, to kickstart a tweetstorm. cc:@visakanvpic.twitter.com/Su8u3GtkPa
