Agreed. I tried futility to encourage my girls to try building things on the computer as I was at their age. They played minecraft at a friends house for an afternoon and that was the necessary spark to get them making.

Meanwhile in Russia, several anti-gaming bureaucrats claim that Minecraft teaches violence. Absurd! Some of my friends started learning programming after playing the game, and they were adults at the time.

There were similar games back then, but Minecraft was in the right place, at the right moment, with enough viral force. It was almost pure luck. I don't think luck should be a billionaire's game.
