Why not
A medium account is not one's own. They control the look, censor ideas they dislike, and would prevent me from using technologies I might want to try (e.g. if some new micropayment scheme were invented). Plus they might go out of business, and then what?

It makes sense but I really want to see your essays reach a wider audience. Have you thought about starting a podcast or a newsletter for instance? maybe assemble the essays in a book? I mean I see myself buying the book.
