It’s fascinating how re-reading a book that had a huge impact on you earlier in your life at a completely different phase of your life can lead to entirely new thoughts, insights, and discoveries. It’s like reading a completely different book - for better or for worse.

In this case I wonder- if ideas behind significant decisions of your life were incepted by books read early in life but results weren’t great, would reading those books again invoke anger as you feel the ideas were stupid because life didn’t turn out as planned?

In my early 20s I felt bad about the same, not being able to remember details of the books I read and enjoyed (mostly bc I met my wife and she remembers every detail). I always remember though how each book made me feel.
