Ridiculing Trump's solecisms may make you feel better, but it doesn't harm him, and may even help him. Every bit of attention you draw to them draws attention away from things he really doesn't want people looking at, like his business dealings before the presidency.

Not nearly as bad as directly ridiculing his supporters.

Solecism: a grammatical mistake in speech or writing (I didn't know that word)

I agree on the grammatical error part (learned the new word 'solecism' today!). But I find there's no better way to deal with trump than by imitating his narcissistic and over-the-top speech patterns. I agree with Michael Moore that satire may be the key to defeating him.

Indeed, and it's boring to watch Colbert mock Trump misspellings. So much more material there.

You might be right about making fun of grammatical solecisms, but making fun of his *political* solecisms is just making fun of his politics. Satirizing the powerful is an indispensable political weapon; we're not going to stop, nor should we.

ja, it is amazing that supposedly intelligent ppl dont realize that.. makes me think they dont actually care about effect, and are just preaching to their choir and seeking accolades/likes from their segment of the peanut gallery

It's not surprising that Trump has the least swayable base of all time. There's no interest in maintaining tolerable social space for anyone who's wavering to move into. Don't cut off every path of retreat via pop culture & then *further* mock the rank-and-file for standing there

It remains one of the most interesting mental summersaults - whether religious, political, or truthist - when someone gets into the loop where the denial of X proves X. (~You know Jesus is real bc he planted doubt into your heart. Your doubt is proof pharma brainwashed you &c)
