I talk to my kids as if they were naive colleagues. I think they learn a lot this way, and if not, it at least seems fairly harmless.

This is key to being a great teacher. I teach kids programming and I just treat them as inexperienced peers. The result is that my students talk a lot more openly with me than they do with their own parents

Children who don’t have parent figures in their childhood are in for brutal adulthood... I mean, sure treating them as colleagues is safest as in it rids the parent from guilt & the hard work of

I don’t think most people consider their colleagues “naive” also consider them “peers”. It would indicate you’re also naive.
