I talk to my kids as if they were naive colleagues. I think they learn a lot this way, and if not, it at least seems fairly harmless.

This is my new fav thing. My 3 yo son asks me questions about how things work. Love giving him a response he understands 80% of and then adding another 2-5 sentences way beyond his comprehension.

I try to answer the question as best I can in basic English. If they still don't get, say, osmosis or what a boot loader does, at least I get practice at explaining.

I’ve had success with this already by touching on math concepts ahead of the school schedule. The familiarity gives them confidence and now their identity is wrapped up in being good at math.
