The use of “happiness” seems naive. What makes people deeply happy is purpose. And as everything we need becomes easy to attain, purpose and meaning become scarcer and more abstract.

Still, my point stands: many people would feel more mentally well having to hunt and forage for their food (thus we simulate survival scenarios in video games) - assuming they hadn’t been exposed to the luxuries of today

And for anyone seeking happiness/wellness, I think important recognize that it’s the purposeful burden carrier that finds happiness. They aren’t making a “sacrifice”, they’re happier than anyone.
