I think the issue is that you're holding him to your standards. In academia, there are a lot of dunning-kreugerand practitioners who try to explain to academics who literally know where all the problems are, what the problem is. I thought smack down was entirely appropriate.

I saw this as someone who's pursued an economics problem for 2 years, done a through enough literature review + thinker, 1k+ articles across maybe 6 different verticals ... to maybe set down and write the synopsis and get co-authors on. Tech brocademics piss me off.
