I don't know if this is the best way to explain the underlying concepts, but it's definitely good for morale. It seems like magic to be able to say what half of 1001 is when you're at an age where you still have to think about what half of 7 is.

Not surprisingly but the same math questions presented in a visual game format results in 3-5 more questions being answered per session. Exact same questions just different visuals as seen at http://www.mathgames.com

This sounds like what I used to do at Kumon as a kid. We were measured by speed and accuracy. As we mastered it we would level up.

I think there’s a generalization for this too. Kids feel like they’re good at a subject if they know things that they think no one else in their class knows
