Perhaps a paragovernmental nonprofit startup could take donations from all the people who feel this way and use the money to fund universal healthcare.

Strictly, that means the US has to cut tax spending on healthcare. It already spends several points more of GDP than other countries. Alternatively, put price controls and/or ban scope of care.
