That's true for real life too though, people say things like 'really mean it', 'not kidding about this' etc.

In real life though they usually mean they're not just being polite, not that they're not being sarcastic.

Strange, isn't it? I saw the same thing in a certain Discord community. Someone sent me a helpful link, I said something like "Wow, thanks! You're amazing!" and he thought I was being sarcastic. It was a modding community for a videogame. Everyone was awful to each other.

Theory: the nicer you are, the more out of place you'll seem in a community of mean people. That might be one reason nerds feel out of place at most schools.

Do you think trolls would pay to troll? Maybe some of twitter’s challenges could be solved through pricing. If you want to comment / RT then you pay some subscription level price but if you want to just browse you get free twitter like normal.
