At every point in the company's growth, I'd keep the company as small as I could. I'd always want people to be surprised how few employees we had. Fewer employees = lower costs, and less need to turn into a manager.
-
I'd keep writing code for as long as I could. Maybe I'd never have to stop.

Wouldn’t you need to raise more to appease your first tranche of investors?

This was exactly my plan, but I found it didn't work for a SaaS information/productivity tool. The polish bar is too high. You're competing against free products from Google. I think this advice (at least the $ figure) needs to be modulated for the maturity of the space.
-
You mean what's considered "minimum" in a space depends on what's already available in that space? I recently read that MVP, as a concept, is no longer viable because the minimum is often not enough.

It is a great point, in our experience, recruitment is harder when you have no big name VCs on board and ppl find it hard to believe your revenues are decent because we do not splurge on office, etc. That said, there are still ppl you can convince and those are amazing

Is'nt that super hard to do in Valley. First cost structures won't allow, second abundant capital & peer pressure will force Demo Day mega raise. If you were in Boston/Austin likely ? For SaaS
@prasanna_says and I call Valley SaaS as#VanitySaaS. Needs $6m raise to get to $1m ARR -
It's cheap if you're only the founders. Especially if you're all 22. And I am quite good at resisting peer pressure.
