So here is what i have to ask, how can ethics/being fair be your priority while falling of a cliff? Imo this analogy is normalising the lack ethics in startups

I don't think stress of startups causes particularly bad behavior. I think the extraordinary success, or interim apparent success, of startups can implicitly justify poor behavior by their founders and shield those founders from the consequences which might otherwise befall them.

If Musk was managing partner of a big law or accounting firm, or CEO of a non-technology public company, his behavior would have him out on the street. If Elizabeth Holmes had been in a prosaic business she would have never gotten away with the flim-flam that typified Theranos.
