Asking sincerely here, but isn't it just possible that most people don't agree with the premise embedded in the tweet? Isn't it possible they think the AirBnB founders were actually men of some privilege and maybe not the best example "anyone can do it"? Could that be the case?
If I had meant to say they had no privilege of any kind, I would have said that. It would have been a much stronger statement. But it would have been false, which is why it never occurred to me to say that.

When you suggest that someone is saying X implies Y when Z is irrelevant, you aren’t also suggesting that Z implies X when Y or Z is what someone actually means.
Respectfully, you drew a line from “not just for rich kids” to AirBnB, which apparently was started by talented men of comfortable backgrounds. The rich? Perhaps no. But I’m not sure people ran so afield of your tweet. The implications of “couldn’t make rent” seem clear
But I’m just echoing the sentiments of many others. It’s obvious that YC has helped create many great startups including AirBnB and that founders come from many different backgrounds. Perhaps not enough different backgrounds though.
