after a day of work we’re totally okay with a “bedtime” routine that lasts 1-1.5 hours. Nice to have that dedicated time to focus on the small, the silly.

In that case I'll admit it sometimes takes a good deal more than an hour...

1000%. No truer words. Will miss the hell out of it when my boys outgrow it.

It's interesting how you use the active voice: "put to bed". In my part of the world you don't put anyone to bed. Nor does anyone go to sleep. They can at best lie down and sleep comes to them.

I do this as well. I have never regretted it once. Because one day my daughter won’t want to spend this much time with me and I soak it up as much as I can while I can. Precious times

Ya my kids' bath sometimes takes 45 min. But we all love it. My wife gets a short break, I get time w the kids w/ my phone in the other room.

How do you balance that extra time vs having time for yourself or for working later?

It's feeling awesome if we think of it as not "extra time", but family time :) just like Paul said.
