I'm sure you didn't intend this to be an example of my point, but it's funny that someone supplied one. Of course there are a few writers who can pull off a florid style, especially in fiction. But even they don't do it by tacking on disclaimers to prevent misinterpretation.

Any controversial topic should be discussed in a larger blog entry. The medium is a huge problem, 280 chars is better than 140 but still woefully inadequate for nuanced, contentious topics.
