The real waste in education isn’t the dollar cost of college, it’s the opportunity cost. Not just of college but of high school. A better education system could take a smart 14 year old and get them into a top-tier workplace four years later.
I agree one could, but I don't think it would be a good thing. Lots of interesting and valuable things happen in the "wasted" time before people start working full-time.

Agreed. Also the 10yr opportunity cost dedicating your 20s to paying off loans, sticking in same job, not taking risks... Cost is defs the worst.

@paulg young people get discouraged and have their dreams crushed, product of people and a system where the majority claims everything is impossible and you should conform without taking risks and without chasing/trying what you believe is true.
