Dismissing how privilege and wealth shape opportunity for entrepreneurs is much more dangerous. I'm glad Brian had a decent middle-class upbringing as the son of two college graduates w/ stable jobs -- but that, unfortunately, is privilege with 40 million people in poverty in US.
I'm not dismissing it. I know about this problem from a decade of personal experience helping hundreds of first-time founders. What I'm disagreeing with here is the meme that you have to be upper middle class to start a startup.

A few things tho. Definitions haven’t been established. Is “rich” upper middle class, or is it Park Ave wealth? I know a lot of entrepreneurs with great (6 and 7 figure businesses) who came from not much.

Thx - you & Jessica have done more to open new paths to entrepreneurship than most anyone...exactly why I think your voice highlighting the remaining inequity/gaps for so many is more important/needed than downplaying the issue.

anyone with a lot of experiences with many different kinds of entrepreneurs knows you're correct. not worth debating because it gets irrational. one can learn more about what actually matters here from immigrant entrepreneurs

Immigrant entrepreneurs are completely ignored in this discussion for obvious reasons: coming to US with no/ limited social networks + negative net worth (student loans) & still making it is a narrative violation.
