        Reading can come as a habit. But retaining information and building a good knowledge tree is the hardest part. Out of those who read a lot, I'm not sure how many actually does it well.

        Reading is faster, for starters. Symbolic representation is the fastest & book only. You can much better grasp material from a page where many different ideas are visible at the same time and a part of the structure that connects them is apparent from the layout of the text.
