I want to self host a blog with minimal effort (I’ve spent enough of my life up to my elbows in CMS guts!). What’s a good platform in 2019? I could use Wordpress, but that has some issues. Or I could just go super lazy and use Medium.
The problem with Medium is that it's not really yours. They can shut down your site if someone complains about something you say.

This is one key reason I don't like. Medium. They need to do better to get more people to trust them to use them more. Blogger could be another alternative for

Or if it gets acquired and gets handed off like myspace did, delete years of music from artists without any notice or remedy.

If I had anything capital i "Important" I would avoid it, But I'm writing fluff of no consequence, and medium is a very usable fallback. My wordpress got hacked years ago, any self hosting solution needs to be aces cuz I don't wanna spend my life maintaining servers.
