We only take money from racists.
Founders I've met from Nigeria, especially, suggest that those who think Africa is going to remain poor instead of following Asia are being too pessimistic. I realize this is only anecdotal evidence, but I have quite a lot of it.

Agreed, here's one thing I grapple with though, is what africa can look forward to being the next global sweat-shop supplying mostly cheap consumer items via Chinese belt & Road financed businesses? Or can it compete by offering decent labour I.e. tech & combo of tech and agri

If a country becomes rich enough, wages get too high for it to be attractive as a location for sweatshops.

I would agree. “Africa Rising” is rather simplistic and optimistic. A better prediction is rural China 1980s Huge reduction in absolute poverty. Which creates opportunities across some sectors but not others
