If you have to choose between someone who's a jerk in personal matters but perfectly correct in his opinions, and someone who's upstanding in personal matters but heretical in his opinions, choose the latter.

Perhaps you mean "orthodox" rather than "correct". You can definitely be heretical and correct at the same time.
What I meant was in agreement with the opinions of the person doing the choosing, in which case orthodox and correct (to him) seem identical. There may also have been an entirely accidental similarity to "politically correct."
