Speaking as a supplier of capital, I wish. But unfortunately, founders turn out to be the limiting reagent.

Proof by contradiction : If capital could alone solve problems, no one would ever give it out to others to use it to solve problems because they'd be doing so by themselves :)

The question here is whether capital investment is necessary for growth, not whether it is sufficient

Would increasing the YC batch solve part of the problem ?

I don't think "Investor-owned startups don't have enough competition from worker-owned co-ops" is the problem YC is intended to solve, lol.

Many worker-owned co-ops exist in the tech industry, but we don't hear about them because they are small, because they don't achieve the kind of growth that startups do, because they (by definition) don't take funding.

Having founders is what they have in common with startups. Not having investors is what makes them different.
