You would have been amused if you could have heard the internal monologue as I read that. "I wrote "it's"? Jesus, I hope not. Wait, I switched from first person to second in the middle of a sentence? Surely not..."

Hahaha, I can imagine. I found it in an article. A person who wrote it should've written that it's a paraphrase and not an actual quote. And I missed the mistake. Anyhow, nicely put. I always felt that reading affects us in invisible ways but didn't know how to articulate it.
