I recently painted a portrait of my parents it had the same effect as if I’d characterized them with words.

An essay would just be a low-resolution approximation of the true experience you had while knowing her and interacting with her. That richness will stay inside you forever. Putting it in words is like drawing a circle with an n-sided polygon.

I attempted to capture this on Mother's Day but it's hard to do that when there's so much about a person to capture. For me, it's my mom, especially, because she represents integrity and compassion more than anyone I know.https://www.instagram.com/p/BvRKFZ0BEUZ/

Reminds me of Ben Okri. He lost his mother in 1996 and a few years before that captured some of her being in a poem he wrote while he watched her sleeping in a chair. (I couldn't find a written version) https://youtu.be/9dJJEd3G8B0

I used
@StoryWorth with my grandmother and learned so much about her childhood, her parents, WWII, how she received technologies introduced during her life (airplane, television), what she was like as a mom to my mother and aunt, and about my grandfather, who died when I was 14.Thanks. I wouldn't do it too much like an interview, more a long conversation with the ulterior motive of figuring out what was going on in her head.
