I just realized something about Edward Tufte. He's an existence proof that criticism, as a calling, is not inherently a waste of time. Imagine if someone did literary or art criticism the way Tufte does data visualization criticism.

i humbly suggest not inviting him to interact with women. or… maybe any nice people. went to one of his courses a few years ago. there were several moments of "wait… wait wtf?" but maybe you can turn his self-love around: be male, flatter him into giving you work & publicity!
