Man, the entire premise of this article seems backwards. If you're in a big company your whole career, your credential only matters once, when you got hired. After that your success depends on impressing your peers and bosses.

On the other hand if your career involves a lot of job-hopping or entrepreneurship, then you're being regularly judged by strangers who might take you more seriously if they know you went to a prestigious school. (Also job-hopping and entrepreneurship have been falling in the US)
