Or it could be because adults work to get their money while kids don't. From the perspective of adults buying is a tradeoff between the item and the work you have to do to get it. While from the perspective of kids its not a tradeoff. Its getting something out of thin air.

Another theory is that it is because adults have gotten enough stuff that they wanted. So the excitement disappear.
