Anyone that has a media presence should mentally disconnect the media presence from the person. There are interesting habits of folks that have both that help them stay sane. Most people talking about "you" are really just talking about your media image.

It’s difficult for individuals to counter all voices in the crowd. It’s difficult for crowds to counter the loud voice of an individual. But, both are doable - often by building a crowd or promoting an individual.
