Some people believe that if they can catch a leprechaun and make him implement their idea, they will become rich. (In California, leprechauns are also known as "technical cofounders.") #FolkloreThursday

unpopular opinion, entrepreneur version: just learn how to code... yes - it takes a long time, yes - it's hard you will become a better problem solver in general AND you'll be able to execute on most of your startup ideas

It doesn't even take that long. Anyone reasonably smart and determined could do it in 6 months.

To a somewhat basic level. Can’t imagine it’s enough to build a successful tech company unless you have some more experienced founders

A basic level is sufficient. You don't have to be the last programmer the startup will ever hire. Just good enough to build a prototype and/or recognize a good cofounder when you see one.

In practice have you seen many such companies become highly successful?

Apple has done fairly well. Facebook too is arguably an example.

Zuckerberg and Wozniak only had half a year experience?

No. Zuck’s M.D. parents hired a comp sci graduate student to tutor him in programming when he was 11. He comes from tremendous privilege like you, like Bill gates, etc. https://blog.adioma.com/how-mark-zuckerberg-started-infographic/ …

Keep finding excuses for yourself. YES, its easier when you have those privilege. I don't think they exist anymore. You can have access to a great Education online, and Money is everywhere. Finally, in the world scale we're among the privileged. ANYONE CAN BE A SUCCESSFUL FOUNDER

During high school at Exeter Mark started a company that almost got sold for a million or so but wasn't because he and Adam D'Angelo would have had to work 3 years for the acquirer as part of the deal. He'd been seriously programming from a young age.

6 months! That’s some bullshit. That’s barely enough time for someone to learn the outrageously complex modern front-end dev stack. Not counting being a decent designer. But then there is the database, cache, full back-end, sysops - knowing how to run and maintain the thing.
