Something I wish existed: a mobile app that dynamically calculates the probability you're about to crash your car, based on your speed, the history of the piece of road you're on, the weather, the time of day, accelerometer data, etc.

Version one just tells you about dangerous bits of road. I occasionally find myself on a bit of road that's palpably dangerous. I bet some 100 yard stretches have 1000x as many crashes per car as others. It would be helpful to be warned about these.

Obviously it would not display the probability as a number, but rather beep and/or glow red or something when it crossed a threshold.

Since probabilities would vary a lot more than your course was unpredictable, it would sometimes be able to warn you eerily far ahead of time. If it was good enough, there would be times when it would go off as soon as you got in your car.

and ideally not just the beep but also why — “road conditions due to weather” “your speed + stop and go traffic”

I can totally see this incorporated into the car itself. Daimlers already have auto brakes; this is an extension of that idea, using historical and live data, both from public sources and from the driver. It's brilliant.

Jane was late for the meeting but as soon as she got into her car, the car said “sorry Jane, the risk of any trip at the moment is over the allowed threshold”. She tried to convince HAL to start but the AI wouldn’t bulge. Minutes later HAL turned the car on.

v1 really should just be "Beep when I am approaching a stretch of road that has XX% higher crashes than other areas in proximity". Since crashes should be mappable but your speed, time of day, etc. would be relative to you and less so the other crashes.
