This argument often uses radically sucessful outliers as examples to make the point. Avg dropouts are not more sucessful than avg college grads. Also-- most ppl don't go to college already, & that group overwhelmingly have less $, oppurtunity, social connections & intellect.

Regular companies want people who are reasonably intelligent, hard-working and obedient. Since college degree requires all three, it's a great signal.
