I think unless you are accepting a blue collar life or in the extremely rare category of people that drop out and become successful based on intelligence/grit, then they are necessary. Underestimating the demand curve here.
Successful college dropouts are not rare in Silicon Valley. The current president of Y Combinator is one.

Did you check the families of those dropouts? Are they average middle class families? If not, that only proves wealth creates more wealth, not college degrees have no value.
