While in my original tweet I was speaking specifically about non-native English speakers, I don't agree with the general point either. Canned responses are fine because it shows the founder was thoughtful enough to anticipate the question and formulate an answer.

Depends on the quality of the response, of course. Also another caveat is the quality of salesmanship in bay area startups vs India. Here, prep is a way to stand out and is perhaps rarer than "spontaneity".
