"Growing up I was told to obtain a good education, find a stable job and settle down. When I chose a very different path, I not only had to convince my parents (including my mother, a former teacher) but had to convince myself."https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestechcouncil/2019/03/06/forget-about-plan-b-if-you-want-your-startup-to-succeed/#143679327383 …

I've been having the general thought that the responsibility of the privileged is to take risks that is beyond the tolerance of those with less means.

Interesting idea. I'm inclined to agree. It will increase economic inequality though, since risk and reward are proportionate in an efficient market.

Choosing an unconventional & lonely path is tough enough as it is; and having to constantly convince the very people who should be there to support you (if they value your happiness), is the last thing you want. Huge energy drain, loss of focus & confidence.

My mom is an educator and very strict. They dreamt of a very lucrative career for me.I could not fit in anywhere (they thought I should), and at one point in life I felt they have given up on me, i think it’s still true.

I dropped out of college to focus on building stuff I'm interested in. I think that throwing myself in the ocean will force me to learn how to swim, and I prefer to drown before I have to get back to land. Now, I'm happier than I've ever been, enjoying every line of code I write.

And that’s where your essays make an entry, the way you are guiding amateurs to love what they do is what made me rethink about what I really wanted to do. It was like navigating through emotions/denials/questions. I am good at ignoring it all nowadays. That’s a prob too 😬😬

Plan B is only an option if you are creating a startup with the purpouse of making money. When you truly believe in solving the problem you are facing a Plan B is really quitting on solving it and going after something else.
