When investors ask you questions about your company, don't begin with "so." It's a tell that you're about to emit prefabricated sentences, and those never hold the other person's attention like actual conversation.

That's a good point. Some of my favorite conversations happen when their response begins with "hmm, no one's ever asked me that before" or "hmm, I've never thought about that before" Though, I wonder if that puts the burden of ingenuity on the questioner to ask good questions?

In practice, more often it means "I'm going to pretend your question was one that I have a prepared answer for." But even if you have a prepared answer for their exact question, it will be more engaging if it seems spontaneous.
