I have yet to see a “righteous cause” pursued by young people that isn’t actually somebody’s business plan.

so much unrest right now because there are general righteous complaints, vague righteous movements, but no righteous leaders and plans.

Us youth see a lot of bugs in the way civilization works. The reality is, a lot of those bugs are actually features (see: capitalism). But some of those things actually still are bugs, and I'd argue older gnerations forget about the bugs of society that they encountered in youth.

We forget, and are blind to those bugs seen by youth that were caused by our focus on the issues of our time. We have also learned that some bugs can't be fixed but shouldn't be ignored (like those that stem from human nature).

Young people will find righteous pretexts to disrupt the existing power structure -a cynic (not endorsed by me, but one way of seeing it)

No. It's simply because the older worldview seems outdated.. And usually is, especially in today's constantly changing times. But I will admit that there are plenty ancient views that are timeless and should be retained/brought back.
