Brothers and sisters, there is plenty of money in this country. There is plenty of money in this world. It’s just in the wrong hands.https://twitter.com/billdeblasio/status/1104761073696210945?s=21 …

All over this country people are working harder and harder, but getting less and less. It‘s not an accident. It’s an agenda to ensure that working people won’t get ahead.

This is a sign of where we are. First, there is the pandering to envy. Second, there is an implication that redistribution is a free lunch. These views pit people against each other and ignore ways to rise in this world that benefit others.

Russ, one of the things I've always loved about you is that when you talk to your guests, you try to draw out and engage with their ideas rather than trying to refute them. I'm noticing that on Twitter, you now seem to do the opposite. Wondering why.

Perhaps because his guests don't say such things?

Yeah, I thought of mentioning why I don't invite politicians to be guests on EconTalk. But again, that's a longer discussion.

I've heard plenty of econtalk episodes with heavy disagreement on both sides. Econtalk as a whole is a huge corpus, hard to make generalizations about the topics or ideas that aren't expressed on it.

Yes disagreement but i havent heard econtalk episodes where interviewees “beliefs” were not sincerely held and backed by something more than strategy.
