Shouldn't startup ideas be non-obvious and ”sound bad"?
They should sound bad to other people, yes, but not to you and your peers.

Exactly. There is a bias among the VC community about what a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ idea is because of the risk profile of the idea. A lot of ‘bad’ ideas are just ideas that seem to be high risk, low reward when pitched. But a year of success can change almost any ‘bad’ idea to ‘good’.
